10th Year Anniversary

The 10th Annual Celebration of Tayitu Cultural Center’s “YeWerru GitM’na Theatre Mishet”

The 10th Annual Tayitu Cultural Center evening festivities will be held on Sunday October 3rd, 2010 and will highlight works performed on the Tayitu Stage, feature representatives from eleven sister arts organizations from across North America and Canada, and feature a special honored guest from Ethiopia.

Famed poet and playwright, Deputy Director of the Russian Center for Culture and Science, General Manager of the first independent theatre in Ethiopia, lecturer in literature at the Institute of Language Studies, Addis Ababa University. and author of  ”Survey of World Literature” Ayalneh Mulatu will be Tayitu’s special guest from Ethiopia.

Tayitu Cultural Center will be staging a production of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth, as translated by Poet Laureate Tsegaye Gebremedhin as well as comedy, skits, short dramas, and poetry readings.

At its 10th Anniversary Event, Tayitu Cultural Center will continue its mission to showcase Ethiopian Culture and Performing Arts by featuring performing artists Alemtsehaye Wedajo, Abebe Addis, Tesfaye Sima, Abebayehu Taddesse, Teodros Legesse, Tigist Negatu, and comedian Meskerem Bekele, just to name a few.

The 10th Annual Tayitu Cultural Center’s “YeWerru GitM’na Theatre Mishet” evening will be held at Montgomery College, Performing Arts Center in Silver Spring, Maryland on October 3rd, 2010.
